They had a special bond and they treated each other like family which was really nice. There wasn’t any type of drama or jealousy, they literally cared and fought for each other. It’s been a long time since I read a book with such awesome girl friendships. Let’s talk about the friendships in this book. She just had a lot of character development in this book and I admire her for her strength because she went through a lot. Alosa just felt a lot truer and more human, not some invincible pirate, but one with flaws and worries. Why is this important you may ask? Well in most books you always get to see the fear and confidence every main character experiences, but we never get to see their realization or the side effects of being in charge of everyone, having your life at risk and possibly saving the entire world.
In this one she was still all these things, but you could see her doubting herself from time to time, she even seemed scared at some parts, defeated, sad.
In the first book she always seemed stubborn, fierce and ahead of anyone. Alosa felt a lot more different too and I was surprised to see another side of her.
This book felt totally different from the first one, I don’t know if it was the setting or the sudden change of cast, but I really liked it. It’s kind of hard to write a review for a second and final book in a series, I don’t know if it’s because it’s hard to dodge writing a spoiler or the fact that a lot has happened, and you just have to do a little bit of comparing between this book and the previous one.
